Prospective, randomized, unblinded trial of 3883 patients at 33 centers.
65 patients were randomized into the following groups: group A: antihypertensive treatment with the calcium antagonist nilvadipine; group B: treatment with the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor cilazapril; and group C: treatment without antihypertensive agents.
