Trial Description

To examine whether antihypertensive treatments reduce the risk of ischemic stroke recurrence.

Trial Design

Prospective, randomized, unblinded trial of 3883 patients at 33 centers.

Patient Involvement

65 patients were randomized into the following groups: group A: antihypertensive treatment with the calcium antagonist nilvadipine; group B: treatment with the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor cilazapril; and group C: treatment without antihypertensive agents.

Outcomes
