Patients given sensory stimulation recovered faster and to a larger extent than the controls, with a significant difference for balance (p < 0.001 at 1 and 3 months), walking (p < 0.004 at 1 month and p< 0.001 at 3 months), mobility (p < 0.02 at 1 and 3 months), ADL, (p < 0.05 at 1 month, p < 0.0001 at 3 and 12 months), QL, and days spent at hospitals/nursing homes.
