Trial Description

To compare treatment in a specialized stroke rehabilitation ward to treatment in conventional locations for stroke patients.

Trial Design

Randomized controlled trial of 225 patients.

Patient Involvement

Patients were randomized to receive care in a special stroke rehabilitation ward (SRW) or to remain in conventional treatment location. Treatment in the SRW was cooperative and included social workers and caregivers. It also involved regular physiotherapy. All patients were followed up every four months for one year.

Outcomes
