Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

Acute ischemic infarction presenting within 24 hours from symptom onset, body temperature of 37.5°.

Exclusion Criteria

Subjects with TIA or hemorrhagic stroke were excluded; patients with a baseline temperature of >37.5 °C;an elevation of liver enzymes (alanine and aspartateaminotransferases, alkaline phophatase, gammaglutamyltranspeptidase)on admission; known chronicliver disease or alcoholism (regardless of liver enzyme values); history of allergy to acetaminophen.
