Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

Cerebral transient ischemic attack (TIA) within previous month which produced a focal, reversible neurological deficit without sequelae after 24 h.

Exclusion Criteria

Poorly defined neurological symptoms, TIA occurring more than 1 month before entry, anticipated or potential digestive intolerance to ASA, epilepsy, migraine, polycythemia and cardiac arrhythmias.
