Intravenous Heparin for the Prevention of Stroke Progression in Acute Partial Stable Stroke.

Phase N/A Results

17% of heparin-treated patients showed evidence of stroke progression compared to 19.5% of placebo-treated patients. This difference was not statistically significant. 2 heparin-treated patients died and 1 placebo-treated patient died in the 7-day treatment. After 1 year the difference in death rate was statistically significant with 17 heparin-treated patients and 8 placebo-treated patients having died.
