To conduct a pilot trial investigating the possible neuroprotective effects of mild intraoperative hypothermia in aneurysm surgery.
- Hypothermia Device
Intervention Desc: Reduction of brain temperature and body temperature for neuroprotection
Randomized, controlled, prospective study
Patients were randomized into either a hypothermic group, which was cooled intraoperatively to 33.5 degrees C, or to a normothermic group, which was maintained at 36.5 degrees C. All participants' neurological statuses were evaluated at 24 and 72 hours post-operatively, and again at 3-6 months after surgery.
|Type||Measure||Time Frame||Safety Issue|
|Primary||Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score, evaluated 3-6 months postoperatively|
|Secondary||Postoperative critical care requirements, respiratory or cardiovascular complications, length of hospitalization, discharge disposition.|
