Phase N/A Results N/A

Trial Description

To determine whether ventricular drainage combined with intraventricular trombolysis improves outcome in patients with intraventricular hemorrhage caused by extension from an intracerebral haemorrhage.

Interventions

Trial Design

Multi-center, prospective, randomized, open treatment, blind endpoint assessment.

Patient Involvement

Patients in the fibrinolysis group will receive one or two extraventricular drains and Intraventricular thrombolysis using 1 mg rt-PA (a total of 5 mg rt-PA will be injected through the drain every 12 hours). Patients in the control group will receive one or two extraventricular drains. Drain management follows the standard procedures of the participating center.

Outcomes

Type Measure Time Frame Safety Issue
Primary Glasgow Outcome Scale score at three months.
Secondary Drain dependency after 3 months. Amsterdam Linear Disability Scale score at 3 months. CT-scan proven intraventricular or parenchymal bleeding complications. Ventriculitis.
