Drug-Eluting Stents for the Treatment of Intracranial Atherosclerosis.

Phase N/A Results

In this study, the use of DES was feasible and safe, because there were no untoward effects associated with stents. All patients were successfully stented without complications, except 1 clinical complication of a retinal embolism during the guide catheter removal. The mean stenosis was reduced from 84.4% +/- 10.2% to 2.5% +/- 4.6%, no arterial toxicity was found and cerebral toxicity was stable in all patients, and there wee no delayed recurrent ischemic events or cases of stent thrombosis over a 1 year follow-up period.
