Trial Description

To generate a systematic review of the effects of antihypertensives on acute stroke outcome.

Trial Design

A meta-analysis of data collected in many randomized controlled trials, divided into three parts. Phase I: A small-scale review concerning the efficacy of oral calcium-channel blockers. Phase II: An analysis of grouped data from trials investigating any vasoactive drug used to treat acute stroke. Phase III: An analysis of individual patient data collected in phases I and II.

Patient Involvement

This is a review of data collected in other trials. Researchers gather their data from the CDSR, CCTR, MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIDS ISI, existing review articles, and correspondence with stroke researchers and pharmaceutical companies Patients are not obligated to do anything beyond what is required by their trial.
