Trial Description

To investigate the effect of 10 sessions of an oral dose of amphetamine combined with physiotherapy on rehabilitating stroke patients, starting 5–10 days after stroke.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

Patient Involvement

Drug treatment was given in the form of identical white tablets of 2 x 5 mg of either d,l-amphetamine or placebo60 min before the training session. All patients underwent at least 30 min of physiotherapy 5 days a week in addition to the ward’s regular training program.
