ISGC
International Stroke Genetics Consortium
|
Status:
Ongoing. More centers are welcome to join.
Purpose:
To build an international network of investigators with high quality patient and control samples and subsequently perform genetic studies with adequate power; to perform genome-wide association studies of these patients and controls, with follow-up and replication studies of targeted (regions and) genes.
Year Started:
2007
Design:
A network of international investigators co-operating in genetic stroke research.
Patient Involvement:
Patient and control subjects will have genetic studies done.
Primary Outcome:
To examine the influence of inherited genetic variation on cerebrovascular disease in order to improve the understanding of its pathogenesis and to utilize what we learn to develop novel diagnostic, management, and preventive strategies for individuals affected by stroke and related disorders.
Results:
Analysis will be done using genetic association studies.
Source of Information:
Presented at the 2008 International Stroke Conference (February 2008).
