Action
Opioid antagonist with relative selectivity for kappa opiate receptors

Status
US FDA approved 1995 (as ReVex) for reversal of narcotic effects or overdose. Mulitcenter acute stroke trial of 291 patients showed difference between placebo and 3 dose groups in favorable outcome overall, but possible effect for patients <70. Phase III multicenter trial completed 1998, published 6/2000, showed no significant treatment effect at 6 months.
