Status
Phase III trial (CAPRIE) results published in 1996. The United States FDA granted marketing clearance 11/97 to Sanofi and Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Plavix(R) (clopidogrel bisulfate) for the reduction of atherosclerotic events (myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular deaths) in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent myocardial infarctions, recent stroke or established peripheral arterial disease.
