Case Study 6 (1)
A
64-year-old man with the sudden onset of left-sided weakness at approximately
9:00 pm is about to arrive in the emergency department (ED) by paramedic
transport. No prior medical
history is known. His blood
pressure in the ambulance is reported as 130/82 mm Hg, and the finger-stick
glucose is 12 mg/dL.
At this point it
is appropriate to:
Cancel
the Code Stroke since the time of symptom onset is unclear.
Initiate
the Code Stroke by ordering a STAT CT brain scan.
Do
nothing until the patient is evaluated.
