It is premature to abort the Code Stroke at this point. Paramedics will frequently observe fluctuations in stroke symptoms. Occasionally this indicates that the patient's symptoms have resolved and that the presenting symptoms indicate a transient ischemic attack (TIA). On the other hand, most stroke patients will exhibit fluctuating symptoms over the first 30 to 90 minutes, even though the will eventually develop a static deficit. It is most prudent to perform a detailed neurological examination to ascertain whether all the deficits have cleared. |
