A female inpatient developed sudden left-sided weakness at 5:55 pm.  The patient’s daughter, a registered nurse, was conversing with her in the patient’s room at the onset of symptoms.  According to the daughter, the patient suddenly stopped speaking and slumped to the left.  The patient is 77 years old and has been hospitalized for 2 days with pneumonia and dehydration.  She had been recovering well, and discharge had been planned for the next day.
